Kaivac Looks Back – Highlights of 2019
As another year (and another decade!) comes to a close, we always like to look back at the last 12 months. Thanks to our amazing sales and management team, distributors, and end-users, Kaivac has continued to grow and spread the science of cleaning. Keep reading for our top moments of 2019.
1. KaiTutor wins Distributors Choice Award
Every year, jan/san distributors across the country choose the industry’s top 40 products in the Sanitary Maintenance Distributors Choice Awards. Kaivac was honored to make this list for the 5th time with KaiTutor. KaiTutor is a unique, onboard training system that can be mounted to any Kaivac machine. It provides janitors with access to training information whenever and wherever it’s needed. The ability for real-time, hands-on training can improve employee retention rates and increase job satisfaction.
2. New Sales Leadership
A huge part of our success is our incredible team. This year, we welcomed a new head of Canadian Sales and promoted a new VP of Global Sales. In May, former International Business Development Manager Marc Ferguson was promoted to Vice President of Global Sales.
“My key goal is to help build Kaivac into a global brand,” said Ferguson. “We have a better way to clean that is simpler and faster. The world needs our solutions.”
A few months later, Drew Bunn was hired as Director of Sales for Canada. Upon joining the team, Bunn stated that his first goal would be marketing Kaivac products to Canadian schools, airports, universities, and foodservice facilities.
“These facilities present a tremendous opportunity for Kaivac,” said Bunn, “They are always looking for cleaning equipment that produces better outcomes, reduces costs, and enhances worker productivity.”
We look forward to seeing what these men accomplish in the coming year.
3. Icky at Connex
Try as we might, we just can’t shake Icky the Mop! In June, Icky crashed the Connex (formerly PRSM) trade show in Denver. America’s (least) favorite mop protested the use of Kaivac machines, and even managed to get onto the CGP Maintenance podcast. Where will Icky show up in 2020? Only time will tell.
4. National Safety Month
In June, Kaivac joined the National Safety Council in promoting National Safety Month. All month, we taught facility managers tips to improve facility safety by improving traction, removing bacteria, responding to spills immediately, and protecting workers from harmful chemicals. We also encouraged our followers to make a commitment to creating a safe workplace by signing the NSC Safe at Work pledge.
5. AutoVac Stretch Release
In 2019, we introduced the AutoVac Stretch. Designed to make cleaning less complicated, the AutoVac Stretch is a simple, high-speed system for cleaning wide-area hard surface areas like hallways, cafeterias, warehouses, and more. The AutoVac Stretch allows users to conserve water by 75% or more and reduce chemical usage by 66% or more – without losing cleaning effectiveness. The AutoVac Stretch also received an Honorable Mention in the 2019 ISSA Innovation of the Year awards. See it in action below.
6. ISSA 2019 in Las Vegas
No year would be complete without ISSA Show North America! Our team traveled to Las Vegas in November to showcase the AutoVac Stretch, build relationships, and continue our efforts to Stop the Mop. We’re already looking forward to ISSA 2020 in Chicago!
We are grateful for all of the opportunities that 2019 brought us, and we look forward to what next year will bring. Cheers to 2020 and all the innovation and growth that comes with it. See you in the new year!
